A focal point of the tour is the canvas by Gianbattista Tiepolo "Apotheosis of Angelo della Vecchia in the Sign of the Virtues   on the ceiling of the Sala Giunta.

During the Renaissance, the location in which Palazzo Isimbardi now stands was considered Milan's most appealing garden (the Viridarium - from whose name Via Vivaio derives), with elegant stately country residences.
One of these villas, enlarged and transformed over the centuries by its various owners, was acquired by the Province of Milan to turn it into its main offices.
